Installation CD

Modes

There are basically 3 modes accessible from the Installation CD:

Vanilla Installation

When starting CD at this mode, two things will be available: The Installation application and a basic set for Internet Browsing should the network be available or game playing.

Live CD

In a Live CD mode, Tracker and Deskbar will be loaded. The Installation Application will be accessible from the menu, as will all other default apps. A minimum number of Apps will be available by default and will be chosen in a way they can best demonstrate the abilities of WalterOS.

Recovery CD

Tracker, Deskbar and Terminal are opened by default. Also a small app showing the documentation needed to help you recover from disasters. (will not be able to recover from Earthquakes on R1 though !!!! ;) ).

Technical explanations of Features in Modes section

So how is the network going to be available on a CD? Using predefined a Ram drive system to where network script links are pointing, the bootscript unpacks basic network scripts according to your network configuration. DHCP should be the easiest to implement, although it is should be possible to add some configuration option for the more advanced users.
